​IHI UBC’s “Basic Certificate Cohort” program provides guided training to work towards achieving the Institute of Healthcare Improvement’s Basic Certificate in Patient Safety and Quality Improvement. This term-long program will include valuable networking opportunities with other students, faculty, and guest speakers. The program includes a total of three synchronous events to support your journey through IHI’s asynchronous modules, along with regular online check in’s and deadlines to keep you on track throughout your Quality Improvement education. 

Students of all disciplines are encouraged to join and learn about patient safety and healthcare. Medical or pre-medical students are also strongly encouraged. The Basic Certificate will not only provide you with a general understanding of healthcare improvement, but also with strategies you may implement in any leadership position that requires problem solving and planning.
