BCpsqc & IHI Open Schools 2020-2021 Healthcare Improvement Scholarship Program
We offer scholarships to support students in pursuing educational opportunities to develop knowledge and skills in healthcare quality improvement.
APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED.
THANKS TO THOSE OF YOU WHO APPLIED! PLEASE LOOK OUT NEXT YEAR FOR THE 2021-2022 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM! Scholarship Program: The BC Patient Safety & Quality Council (BCPSQC) and the Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Open School chapters of BC are pleased to offer Healthcare Improvement Scholarships to support students pursuing educational opportunities to develop and advance knowledge and skills in improving healthcare quality, including accessibility, effectiveness, safety, and equity (as detailed in the BCPSQC Quality Matrix). Traditionally, scholarships have been granted to support attendance of quality improvement conferences (e.g. IHI National Forum, BC Quality Forum). Due to the evolving landscape of the Covid-19 pandemic, we cannot support in-person participation in conferences this year. Instead, we encourage students to participate virtually in conferences and/or training courses to build skills toward improving healthcare quality.
Eligibility:
Full-time or part-time students currently enrolled in any discipline at a post-secondary institution in BC with an interest in healthcare quality are welcome to apply.
The proposed educational opportunity/ies must (1) be held virtually, (2) relate to healthcare quality, and (3) be implemented within the 2020-2021 academic year.
Application (2020-2021 INFORMATION): Fill out the online application form by 11:59pm on October 5th 2020. Applicants are encouraged to propose up to 3 different educational opportunities, in order of preference. The application consists of 4 questions that directly reflect the scholarship selection criteria; a resume/CV will be used as supplemental information to the application. Applications will be adjudicated based on the scoring scheme provided in the application form.
Applications will be evaluated by a joint panel of IHI UBC, IHI UBCO, IHI UNBC, and BCPSQC members and alumni. Scholarship recipients will be notified by October 19th, 2020. If you have any questions, please email scholarship@ihiubc.com. Examples of Conferences & Training Opportunities: These are examples only and do not represent a comprehensive list. Applicants are encouraged to research opportunities that cater to their own interests and goals in quality improvement. Some opportunities listed may not be suitable for all applicants and/or may require prerequisite professional status or knowledge. Some of these opportunities may be free of charge, and students are at liberty to engage in them outside the context of the Quality Improvement Scholarship.
