Learn about the basic concepts of quality improvement, from patient safety to project design. The workshop will feature an introduction to IHI's Basic Certificate Program, QI project scenarios, and our guest speaker, Dr. Mia Remington. Summative Quality Improvement
November 28th at 10am - 12pm In the 2-hour summative QI workshop, you will be working through a real QI project on the topic of best practice for medication prescribing for opioid replacement therapy (ORT) conducted by Dr. Lawrence Yang. You will have the flexibility of choosing your own change ideas and developing your own unique project out of it. Not only will you learn about the current recommended practice in ORT, you will also be able to practice with techniques and tools used in quality improvement projects. For those of you who attended the previous workshops, you will be able to consolidate your knowledge by applying them to the project. If this is your first time attending our workshop, no sweats! You will be paired with experienced participants in a small group format so you can get the most out of this practical workshop. |

You will not only be introduced to useful resources for patient engagement in care improvement, but also meet a patient family that did not receive the best care they could have. She will be sharing her story through a patient journey map. You will receive full exposure to what it is like to navigate the BC healthcare system while working on eliminating some patient barriers through the QI approach. |
Quality Improvement Workshop
October 24th, 2020 The first workshop will be focusing on the Quality Improvement module of the IHI Basic Certificate. We will be doing several activities and games to apply the knowledge the participants learned about QI. The participants will also problem solve a QI scenario by working through steps of a QI project. Although the workshop is designed to expand on the knowledge from the IHI online courses, everyone who is interested in healthcare quality improvement is welcomed to join and learn. |
Naloxone Workshop
February 27th, 2020 Join us for our Naloxone Workshop, a workshop tailored toward training, awareness and a presentation on how to safely use naloxone and its relevance for improving the overall public health and clinical status of substance-use disorder. Come learn the skills required to administer naloxone while learning about IHI qualities of patient safety and quality improvement. In conjunction with our Recover Hope Campaign, IHI Open School UBC hopes to bring awareness to substance-use by reducing the stigmatization surrounding it and providing necessary steps and information on how to treat it as a healthcare concern in our community. |
